Nick Banks

Principal + Managing Director

Nick Banks is the Principal and Managing Director of Axia Commercial Real Estate, a real estate advisory, development, capital, and brokerage group that seeks to create value through a community focused approach.

  • Nick is a 30 year commercial real estate veteran and graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Finance and a concentration in Real Estate. He has worked in all facets of the industry and is actively involved in several community and professional organizations.

    Nick serves as an advisory board member of the University of Florida Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies, where he currently serves as Board Chair and as a member of the executive board. Nick is a member of the national board of directors for the University of Florida Foundation since 2018 where he chaired the Philanthropy Committee and was a member of the Executive Board. Nick was the founding co-chair of the Gainesville committee for the North Florida chapter of Urban Land Institute (ULI). He recently served as the board chair for the United Way of North Central Florida and is a former member of the board of directors of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, where he served as a member of the executive board and as a member of the Economic Development Committee. He is a graduate of Leadership Gainesville, which is a year-long leadership program hosted by the Chamber.

    Nick founded a boutique real estate brokerage and property management firm, Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group in 2002. He spent the first eight years developing and acquiring office and retail projects in South Florida as well as North Central Florida. He relocated to Gainesville in 2004, and in 2010 shifted the focus of the firm to serve third party clients and perform brokerage and property management services. Within nine years, Nick led the firm’s growth to a team of over 30 professionals doing business in six North Florida markets. In 2019 Front Street was acquired by Avison Young where Nick served as a Principal and Managing Director for North Florida. He led the North Florida team until January 2024. Nick has fostered relationships with several large clients including Concept Companies, Alachua County, Regency Centers, Kite, RMR Group, The University of Florida, UF Health, Santa Fe College, City of Gainesville, Ferber Companies, RD Management, and Hankin Group.

    Prior to founding Front Street, Nick held positions at Stiles Corporation in Fort Lauderdale as a Director of Finance and Dispositions, as well as GE Capital Real Estate in Boca Raton where he served as an Associate Director.

Cameron Banks

Associate Director

Cameron Banks is an Associate Director of Axia Commercial Real Estate, a real estate advisory, development, capital, and brokerage group that seeks to create value through a community focused approach.

  • Cameron Banks is a graduate of the University of Florida, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Geography with a Certificate in Geospatial Information Analysis. As a licensed real estate sales associate, an Autodesk Certified User for AutoCAD, and a Florida Notary Public, he combines technical expertise and analytical skills with a passion for real estate and urban development.

    Cameron’s extensive experience in the restaurant industry, where he advanced through various roles, honed his ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, deliver exceptional service, and communicate effectively. These skills translate directly to understanding client needs, building relationships, and managing challenges in the real estate field.

    With a strong foundation in geospatial analysis and team-oriented problem solving, Cameron is well-prepared to provide innovative solutions and exceptional service in the commercial real estate industry.

Rick Staab

Associate Director

Rick Staab is an Associate Director of Axia Commercial Real Estate, a real estate advisory, development, capital, and brokerage group that seeks to create value through a community focused approach.

  • Rick Staab brings decades of executive leadership, investment experience, and real asset ownership to his role as Associate Director at Axia Commercial Real Estate. Semi-retired since November 2023, Rick now operates a family office with a primary focus on real estate, healthcare, medical devices, and artificial intelligence investments.

    Through Staab Holdings, Rick and his family own and operate five hotels across South Carolina and Florida, as well as multiple office buildings within Progress Corporate Park. Rick’s background as an owner-operator gives him a practical, investor-oriented perspective on acquisitions, asset management, and long-term value creation.

    Rick is the former President and CEO of InterMed Group, a nationally recognized healthcare technology management and medical device services firm headquartered in Alachua, Florida. Under his leadership, InterMed Group expanded its footprint across the United States, providing technology management solutions to hospitals and health systems nationwide. Rick began his career in healthcare technology management after earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampden-Sydney College in 1990. He was recognized by MD Publishing as National Humanitarian of the Year within his industry.

    In addition to his commercial and investment work, Rick is deeply involved in research, education, and philanthropy. He volunteers with the University of Florida’s Schools of Neurology and Pharmacology, supporting laboratory research focused on dystonia. He also serves as an advisor to Morgan Stanley Capital Partners Adviser Inc., Granite Avenue, and 16 South.

    Rick and his wife, Michelle, co-founded Tyler’s Hope for a Dystonia Cure in 2006 following the diagnosis of their son, Tyler. The organization has since funded more than $30 million in neurological research, established Dystonia Centers of Excellence at the University of Florida and Duke University, and played a leading role in advancing awareness and treatment of the disorder. Rick currently serves as President and Director of the nonprofit.

    Rick serves on the Board of Directors and President’s Council of the University of Florida Foundation and is Chair of the UF Norman Fixel Institute. He is also a Board Member of LifeSouth and NeuroPacs Inc., an Advisory Board Member of the AI University at UF, and serves on advisory councils for Santa Fe College’s Biomedical and Nuclear Medicine programs.

    Rick and Michelle live in Gainesville, Florida, with their three children.
